Grandma Rogers

My dear grandmother passed away many years ago - she was a huge part of my growing up memories, and I still miss her! (My grandfather died before I was born.) So, while exploring beach towns (and avoiding the rain), we went to Titusville and saw where they lived and where my mother grew up. We also visited my grandma and grandpa's gravesite. It was nice tell the girls about the great-grandparents they never met, but would've loved so much. It's a great memory from our Memorial Day trip.

 

 

Lily and my grandmother share the same middle name - so she is showing the A. that matches her name.

 

Putt-Putt Golf in Florida

We just got back from our annual Memorial Day trip to Florida. The girls and I went extra long this year, and stayed for 12 days. We spent the beginning in Orlando, and then moved on to the beach once Jason joined us. However, this year we had lots and lots of rain. It rained for the first 6 days...that puts a damper on a Florida beach vacation. But we did lots of eating and shopping to keep busy. Once we got the beach it was still raining so we went on an adventure to Cocoa Beach because it wasn't raining there. We got to see the ocean and then had our first family game of Minature Golf. Mia loved it! And Lily liked climbing on the rocks and chasing balls. Playing "putt-putt" was one of my favorite things as a kids, so it was fun to take the girls and see them play.

 

 

 

 

Junior Olympics

The girls completed their Junior Olympics at gymnastics -- and were thrilled with the new trophy and t-shirt!! Mia made great strides in her gymnastics this year, and we are excited to see how well she does over the summer. She goes 2 days a week right now, and loves it. Lily just finished her first year and is a huge fan of anything she can hang and swing from. She looks so big now in her class, sitting and waiting her turn and trying to do all the tricks her big sister can do.

 

I now have a huge appreciation for the hours and hours that my mom sat and watched me practice gymnastics, tennis, etc. Thanks mom!!

Flower Power

It isn't often we get ready and have time to take a picture before we have to get out the door. I love this photo - the girls look so ready for SUMMER!! Mia keeps asking when we can start to swim. It is warm, but not quite swim weather...yet. But it is coming - her swim team starts practice next week. Lily has been doing great in her swim lessons so she is ready to hit the pool, too. A summer of swimming, sun and fun is about the begin.

 

Happy Easter

With 3 different Easter egg hunts this year, the girls got really good at finding eggs and quickly deciding which candy they wanted and which candy mom and and dad got!!

 

 

 

 

By the time the Easter bunny came to the house the girls were done with eggs and candy, so the enthusiasm was pretty much gone. And, as it always goes, Lily woke up that morning with a fever and completely not interested in her Easter basket. Mom and Lily spent Easter Sunday sitting on the couch watching Strawberry Shortcake. Oh well - so much for the shopping my mother and I did to find adorable matching Easter dresses for the girls. :)

Garden Party - Mia is 5!!

Mia turned 5 this week - and it was a full day of celebration. She had a party at school with a yummy oreo cake that her great mom made!! :) And that afternoon we had a spring GARDEN PARTY and BBQ. But as Texas weather goes, it turned windy and cold for our gardening day! Still, all of her friends from the street came and we made garden crafts (painted flower pots, planted flowers and decorated flip flops) and the evening ended with the parents joining us for burgers and cake. It was a lot of fun. Even Mason, the lone boy on our street, had fun and made some beautiful flip flops (he's such a good sport). Mia was also excited to have her meemaw and pop-pop here from Florida for the big day - and their gift was the hit of the party -- a new teeter totter. Fun for all ages - even Jason and I got to take a turn.

 

 

 

It is hard to believe our little twinkle toes is now 5 -- wow, how time flies when you're a mom watching your daughter grow up!!

Houston Rodeo - Gary Allan concert

 

 

 

 

Jason and I had a very TEXAS night out last week - we went to the Houston Rodeo. Everything in Texas is bigger, and this rodeo is huge!! It lasts for 2 weeks and there are concerts every night. We headed down to see Gary Allan (country music singer for those of you unfamiliar) - Jason's friend from high school, Jaime Hanna, plays guitar and sings backup in the band. We had dinner with Jaime before the concert (and got a peek at the huge tour bus) and then saw some of the rodeo and the concert. It was crazy to see Jaime down on the stage and on the big screen playing his guitar. I loved it - and this was the only way I was ever going to get my husband to take me to a country concert. Now, thanks to Jaime, we have opened his eyes to the wonderful world of country music.
